I believe the Italki team has done a fantastic job. Could you please provide a 'comment' section for teachers and students to comment and for them the state the reasons why the sessions cannot be confirmed. This is where the money is involved and how well does Italki know that the session has been carried out? I have a sudent who refused to comfirm jsut because he has to attend an English class. He happened to book the session and emailed to me to say that he will not attend the sesion booked.

Student: Hi KS, I m sorry but I will not be able to study today. [21May2009]
Teacher: Are you going to be busy?
Student: Yes, I going to a college, I want to enroll to an English cources
    I m going.
Teacher: Please request for cancellation from Italki or confirm the session.

He has done nothing. The session is till unconfirmed.

    Please study this..

    Please advise.

For the original italki version, the session will be confirmed by the italki system in seven days.
however, I am not sure how the new version italki deal with it .

    KongSiong,

ChinaLily is right. If the student doesn't do anything about the session, after 7days the system will automatically confirm the session and you will receive the ITC.

If the student requests a refund, you will receive a notice which you may then dispute. Then you can enter your comments about why the ITC should be transferred to you. This is largely explained in the FAQs. http://www.italki.com/help/teaching/faq_teachin...

As a teacher, if you have other issues you'd like to discuss, we suggest you address them in the Teacher's Group: http://www.italki.com/groups/1542 or send an email to teacherhelp@italki.com

Recently i noticed the possibility to tech via your platform ...What if someone do not want to get payed for his lessons ...He has still to create a payment account? Why should it be obligatory?
  • italki · 6 months ago
    Hi Glavkos,
The payment accounts are only needed for people who want to pay or be paid. Many students are serious about learning a language and are willing to pay to find a reliable teacher to teach them long-term.
If you want to do a language exchange or help someone for no money, you're free to connect with other italki users as friends to offer your help. You can find students by answering questions, posting in groups, and connecting to them through italki messages and chat.
